My name is Sarah Smith. I was raised in Northern Michigan and have been swimming all of my life. I grew up on a lake and have always loved being in the water. I have swam competitively since I was 9 years old when I started with my club team and ended my competitive swimming career when I graduated college. I was recruited out of high school to swim at Florida International University on an athletic scholarship. I swam at FIU for three years because I graduated early and began working full time in a health care facility. I have coached or taught swim lessons since I was 16 years old. I coached the beginner/intermediate group of my club swim team, while I was in high school. I also taught private and group lessons, of all ages in the summers while I was in high school and college. I have always loved teaching and coaching the younger kids, and showing them the basics, fundamentals and safety skills they need to stay safe in the water. I also have a lot of experience in training triathletes, Iron Man competitors and other competitive athletes. I have certifications from the Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor and a Lifeguard Instructor.
